How We First Met

It was a cold windy morning and I'm getting all ready to suffer for the next few hours running a marathon. It's my 3rd marathon but it's my first time doing it in a different country. I actually love Dublin a lot and I'm thankful that I made the right decision to do a marathon there. I was standing there hopping at the same spot to warm up my body as it's really cold. And that was when I saw him for the first time and we spoke for a bit talking about the cold weather and the distance before a group of Americans pushed them behind as the spot where we were standing had a little of sunlight. I didn't know what his name was at that time.

The race finally began and I couldn't wait to start running as it was really cold. I enjoyed the race very much. Admiring the beautiful scenery of the city of Dublin, the cool wind blowing right on my face, people standing by the side cheering for all of us with their happy smiley faces etc. These are priceless. I was carrying my camera and snapped loads of pictures and therefore I stopped a lot in between the race. After running for about 21miles, I was really exhausted and I just can't wait to complete the race. As I was approaching this overhead bridge someone tapped on my shoulder from behind and said hello.

The overhead bridge

I turned to my side and saw someone looking familiar and after a few seconds only then I remembered it was the guy I met at the start of the race. I never knew I would see him again. He began to introduce himself to me and that's when I knew that he was called Alan and we chatted for a bit. I didn't feel like talking as I was running out of breath and when we reached to a part whereby we had to run uphill, I slowed down and lost sight of him. But then later I caught up with him again. We were passing by each other throughout the last 5 miles and gave each other a smile every time. I crossed the finishing line first and just as when I pass the finishing line, my leg had a terrible cramp. I couldn't continue walking and I had to stop by the side to stretch my leg for a moment. Then there was this guy who happened to be there started chatting with me. Alan came from behind and gave me a hug and said well done and walked away. I wanted to talk to him a little more but I couldn't stop this guy from talking to me. Finally I walked away from him, took my goodie bag and medal and there he was standing there looking through his goodie bag. I said hello to him and the rest was history. :)

This is how I met the man I love. Among 13,000 other participants, I found the love of my life. And life has just been great since I met him. And now I couldn't wait to see him again. I'm thankful that I met him on that day. It just seems incredible how 2 people from different part of the world would have gotten to get together through deciding to run a marathon at the same place, at the same time, at the same pace. Another less than 2 weeks to go and I will be able to hug and kiss him again. I just can't wait. :)
